A Good Attitude We're here to have fun in a safe environment. Keep an open mind and you can get help from everyone.
Guns Rimfire Speed Steel is for .22 caliber Long Rifle pistols, rifles, and revolvers equipped with either iron or optical sights. It's essential that your equipment is in perfect working order. Should a problem occur, be ready to stand down, consult with your Range Officer and the Match director on how to proceed. It’s possible that simple problems can be resolved. You might be able to finish using borrowed or substitute gear, foregoing an official score but enjoying the match experience. Ask for help, be patient.
AmmoThe round count depends on the number of stages presented and the number of targets per stage. For example: 5 to 8 plates for each string, 5 strings for each stage, one round ejected for “unload and show clear” at the end of each stage (reloading ammo from the ground is not a good plan) and assuming no make up shots (unlikely) that's upwards of 40 rounds per stage. If you bring one box (50 rounds) per stage plus a couple extra boxes, you should be set.
Magazines Expect to shoot 5 strings for each stage. Having enough loaded mags for each string helps the match run smoothly. If this is not feasible, a spectator or another shooter can help reload mags while you are shooting. High capacity magazines are allowed. If you have 5 or 6 – ten round mags ready for each stage, you are in good shape. In a match, there is time between stages for reloading and speed loaders are very helpful.
Eyes & Ears Protection is required for all competitors and spectators. Anyone without eye or hearing protection will be required to leave the shooting area until such eye and hearing protection is used. Ask us for spares.
Sunscreen Depending on the number of shooters and stages, you will be outside for several hours. We have shaded waiting areas but there can be lots of sun.
Water, Food & Snacks Matches run several hours. It’s a good idea to something handy to eat. When needed, a lunch break is scheduled.
